Elaine Stracker has more than 20 years of experience handling corporate, business, patent, transactional and litigation matters in the scientific, pharmaceutical, medical device, bio-tech and high technology industries. She has extensive experience working with management teams and BoDs.
Elaine is the Founder and President of Paragon Biotech Consulting LLC, which provides business, legal and management consulting services to biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
Previously, Elaine held positions as General Counsel and EVP of Corporate Development at Maky Zanganeh and Associates, Inc. (MZA), General Counsel of Indigo Ag., Inc. and Head of Intellectual Property and General Counsel at Pharmacyclics, Inc. In these positions, she was key in closing several major transactions, including an over $100 million dollar financing in Human Longevity Inc.; a Series C financing for the Indigo Ag, the largest private financing ever in the ag industry at that time; and the sale of the Pharmacyclics for $21 billion dollars in 2015 to Abbvie Inc., the largest biopharma sale in the industry per number of employees. Previously, she held senior positions of increasing responsibility within companies such as Medtronic, Inc., Gilead Science Inc., Merck & Co., Inc., Molecular Probes, Inc., and Affymax Research Institute, during which her portfolio expanded to address a variety of U.S. and global business matters. She also has acted as a consultant to Supergen, Inc., and Alexza MDC, and has been of counsel to Isbester & Associates, LLP. Earlier in her career, Elaine focused primarily on intellectual property law in positions at Geron Corporation and Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder LLP.
Elaine earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. In addition, she earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Boalt School of Law at the University of California. She is licensed to practice law in California and is a registered patent attorney of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is the recipient of several honors and distinctions including a Tribute to Women in Industry Award and a Jurisprudence Award for Patent Laws and is published in the area of advanced licensing agreements.
