Elaine Stracker has more than 20 years of corporate, patent, transactional and

litigation experience in the scientific, pharmaceutical, medical device, bio-tech and

high technology industries. Most recently, Elaine was General Counsel of Indigo Ag. Inc. and Head of Intellectual Property.  In 2016, she was key in closing the $100 million dollar Series C financing for the company; the largest private financing ever in the ag industry.


Prior to Indigo, Elaine was General Counsel at Pharmacyclics Inc. where she handled all legal and business-related matters including transactions, regulatory, compliance, and intellectual property.  She was instrumental in the sale of the company for $21 billion dollars in 2015 to Abbvie Inc.; the largest biopharma sale in the industry per number of employees.


Previously, she held senior positions of increasing responsibility within companies such as Medtronic, Inc., Gilead Science Inc., Merck & Co., Inc., Molecular Probes, Inc., and Affymax Research Institute, a company owned by GlaxoSmithKline, during which her portfolio expanded to address a variety of U.S. and global business matters. She also has acted as a consultant to Supergen, Inc., and Alexza MDC, and has been of counsel to Isbester & Associates, LLP.  Earlier in her career, Elaine focused strictly on patent law in positions at Geron Corporation and Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder LLP.


Elaine earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Davis.  In addition, she earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Boalt School of Law at the University of California. She is licensed to practice law in California, and is a registered patent attorney of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is the recipient of several honors and distinctions including a Tribute to Women in Industry Award and a Jurisprudence Award for Patent Law, and is published in the area of advanced licensing agreements.
